We are Wanderers... Some people live their lives deliberately going from place to place. We too spend our work days doing that. But it seems that the best moments in life often happen by chance, unexpected and unplanned.

In this blog, we will try to capture the wonder we have felt when we happened upon the scenes shared here. Beauty and interest are truly where you find them. "Vagando" is the Spanish word for wandering and beautifully captures the feeling of freedom and ease we experience in our mini adventures. We hope you enjoy viewing these images as much as we have enjoyed finding them.

A Weekend in Ouray

We discovered Ouray (pronounced Ur-ray for those unfamiliar with western Colorado) many years ago and it has long been a favorite weekend getaway.  An afternoon drive to see the ice climbers turned into a wonderful overnight stay in one of the most beautiful old hotels anywhere.  Ouray in the off season is a quiet journey back to a simpler time. We recommend it to anyone needing time to refresh and renew.  The pictures in this post were taken on a weekend in early March.  The hotel is the wonderful Beaumont Hotel - newly remodeled and full of history and just a hint of mystery.  Known as the Switzerland of the Americas, Ouray is spectacular!

  2. I am grateful for the time we have spent discovering new places or the new appreciation of old favorites. Winter's cold weather not being our favorite I am surprised at how much I have enjoyed our hikes & mini-adventures in the snow. Love your photographs and your view of our surroundings. Can't wait to see what we find this year!

  3. How beautiful!! The hotel is gorgeous, it makes you want to go back to that era. The mountains make me home sick. I can't wait to come home, when it's warmer though. lol. ;)
